Trees for Livelihood

Farming with Trees, Growing with Nature

Minister of State Michael Healy Rae launched the Trees for Livelihoods Project, highlighting forestry as a smart path to income, resilience, and biodiversity gains for Irish farmers.

Backed by Forestry Services Ltd., the initiative shows how Agroforestry with Organics and Native Tree Areas (NTA) can keep farms productive while building a sustainable future.

Agroforestry with Organics & Native Tree Areas (NTA) – Forestry Services Ltd.

Forestry Services Ltd., supported by ICSA Ireland and funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, is proud to lead Trees for Livelihoods: Promoting Farmer Uptake of Agroforestry with Organics and Native Tree Areas, offering Irish farmers, advisors, and communities sustainable options that combine income generation with climate resilience and biodiversity gains.

With annual premiums of up to €2,284/ha tax-free, plus eligibility for BISS & ACRES, these schemes make forestry a profitable and resilient choice. Farmers can stay farming while boosting their land’s value, biodiversity, and climate resilience.
